Admissions details
Application period
- 2026: 2025.12.1~12.31, 2026.1.14, 2026.1.15, 2026.1.26~1.28, 2026.3.2.
- 2026 1: — 2026.5.13, 2026.5.20~5.22.
- The 2026 Fall (September) intake round 2 schedule had not yet been posted as of the survey date (2026.7.2). Source: Admissions Office foreign-admission page (ipsi.u1.ac.kr/ipsi/foreigner/recruitment.do) and Office of International Affairs notice (global.u1.ac.kr, post #76550).
Admission type
Foreign Special Admission (new & transfer), document screening 100% (no interview; minimum requirement is Korean or English language proficiency). Two eligibility tracks: Track I (applicant and both parents foreign nationals, regular high-school graduate; dual nationals excluded) and Track II (foreign nationals/overseas Koreans who completed education equivalent to Korean elementary–secondary school abroad; homeschooling/cyber education not recognized). Transfer admission targets 2nd–3rd year students. Eligible departments differ by campus (Yeongdong vs. Asan) and are marked O/X in the guideline — e.g., Asan’s AI Software Department, among others.
Language requirements
Meet one of the following (new & transfer admission alike): Korean track — ①TOPIK Level 4+ (Level 3+ for arts/sports majors; Level 3+ also accepted for applicants who completed U1’s own Korean language institute) ②Sejong Institute intermediate-2 or above ③Level 3+ of the Ministry of Justice’s Social Integration Program, or 81+ on its pre-assessment test. English track (accepted in lieu of TOPIK) — TOEFL 530 (CBT 197/iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, or TEPS 600 (New TEPS 326) or higher; nationals of English-speaking countries, or those educated there at secondary level, may submit a diploma instead. Note: the guideline lists the ‘English track’ only as an alternative language-proficiency pathway to TOPIK — it is unverified whether it also means English-medium instruction for the degree itself.
Competition (reference)
- 3 : 1 for Korean applicants (general track, 2025 disclosure) — the foreign track is screened separately
- Freshman quota 460
