KRW 1,000,000/month (undergraduates and junior professionals) or KRW 1,200,000/month (doctoral candidates and experienced professionals)

Eligibility

Who can apply
  • Foreign (non-Korean) scholars and graduate students of Korean studies and those working in Korea-related fields abroad (humanities, social sciences, arts and culture) who can already understand and speak basic-level Korean.
  • Eligible profiles include: undergraduates with a major or minor in Korean studies
  • master’s/doctoral candidates conducting Korea-related research
  • university professors, lecturers and researchers in Korean education
  • arts/culture professionals (curators, librarians, journalists)
  • and former KF Diplomat Fellows. Ineligible: Korean citizens
  • those currently studying in Korea
  • those planning degree enrollment in Korea
  • and previous recipients of the KF Language Training fellowship.
Nationalities
  • Non-Korean nationals.
  • KF prioritizes applicants from Southeast Asia, Central Europe, CIS, the Middle East, Africa, and Central and South America.

Keeping the scholarship

Renewal conditions
  • Standard fellowship period is 6 months.
  • If recipients demonstrate outstanding results, the period may be extended for up to two additional three-month periods, up to a maximum total of 12 months.
  • No deferral of the start date is permitted.
