Activity-based scholarship: students earn monthly activity points by joining the foundation’s and partner organizations’ programs and local community-contribution activities, and these points are paid out as an individual activity scholarship.

What you get
Benefits
- Activity-based scholarship: students earn monthly activity points by joining the foundation’s and partner organizations’ programs and local community-contribution activities, and these points are paid out as an individual activity scholarship.
- Participants also receive activity certificates, awards (e.g., Busan Mayor’s Award / foundation commendations), links to universities’ non-academic (extracurricular) achievement systems, and access to Busan cultural, tourism, arts and festival events (e.g., free tickets).

Eligibility
Who can apply
- International (foreign-national) students residing in Busan and enrolled at Busan-area universities, able to take part in designated volunteer and foundation activities.
- In the 2024 round the student’s graduation date had to be at least 1 year away as of April 2024 (students graduating Sep 2024 or Feb 2025 could not apply).
- Previous scholarship recipients of the former Busan International Foundation for Cooperation / Busan Global City Foundation cannot re-apply.

Application period
- Last confirmed round: 2024 (official notice 2024-24, posted late March / early April 2024).
- As of 2026-07-03 no 2025 or 2026 ‘Busan Activity-Based Scholarship’ recruitment notice has been published on bgcf.or.kr — the notice board’s scholarship search returns only 2024 entries. (unverified whether a new round will open following the Dec 2025 BNK MOU.)

- Submit the application form and self-introduction (with the academic advisor’s signature) to the Busan Global City Foundation staff contact by email (2024 round: [email protected]).
